By Judy Rix... Note: Before you read this chapter, please read "Post 9 -- Seven Ways to Make Your Home a Heaven on Earth."

Prioritizing a "Heaven on Earth" home builds a strong spiritual foundation for your family. It invites divine influences and fulfills God's eternal plan despite the challenges of the world and the adversary.

When all family members work intentionally to make your heavenly home a priority, it becomes "a place of refuge where peace and serenity prevail, a place where you can reset, regroup, and reenergize." (Elder Richard G. Scott)

Here are a few strategies:

-- Families aren't perfect. When something disrupts the harmony in your home, take a moment to analyze the issue. Convene a family council, and let everyone offer suggestions for improvement.

-- Create a family flag or logo. Historically, a coat of arms or family crest was a unique symbol which proudly represented a family's legacy, accomplishments, and values. Make it an honor for your children to be included in that legacy. Our family flag represents "Give them a strong foundation so they can fly on their own."

-- Teach your children from a young age to value and care for everything in their home and environment. Instill in them the principle of stewardship, and allow them to work for their privileges. Everyone appreciates more deeply the things they have to work for.

-- Transforming your home into a beautiful space is a meaningful investment of time and money. By making that sacrifice, you create an environment of joy and invite God's spirit to dwell there. You provide your family and friends with peace, happiness, and nourishment for their souls -- a place where they want to be.
