I like the hustle and bustle of the holiday season. Making or buying gifts for loved ones is so much fun. But when it comes to shopping for my husband, the man who has everything and needs nothing, every year I'm stumped.

Do you ever have that problem when shopping for your nearest and dearest, whether it be a spouse or parent or child? What would you give to the Christ child?

I believe that the greatest gift we can give to another is through the love in our heart, the pure love of Christ. It is by being like Him that we can offer the best version of ourselves. How would you define the best version of you?

• One who is happy and cheerful and is a joy to be around.

• One who is full of "can - do" optimism and hope.

• One who is calm and gracious and faithful, strong and committed and dependable.

• One who looks for the best in others, who supports and encourages them in their efforts.

• One who makes everywhere they go a joyful little bit of heaven.

• One who is understanding and patient and whose countenance radiates light.

• One who brings beauty and happiness and light to the lives of others.

Being cared for by someone of this caliber is an extraordinary gift for your loved ones.

Now for Reality.

Do you know anyone like that? I don't. And yet, that's what we're striving for by emulating our Savior. It's a lifelong process, an eternal process. As we intentionally follow Christ's example, we grow closer to being like Him.

Will we achieve these lofty ideals this year? Or next? Likely not. Nevertheless, we can keep pressing forward with perseverance. When we fall, we won't quit. We'll rise, repent if necessary, and try again, confident that our eventual perfection is found in Jesus Christ.

`

It may feel like an unreachable dream, but "You gotta have a dream. If you don't have a dream, how you gonna have a dream come true?"

Do you have a strategy for achieving the dream of becoming your very best self? Perhaps insights from Blog Post 2 can assist you in your journey.

Merry Christmas everyone, and happy new year!

It's too easy to get caught up in the commercialism of the season, but just to be in a church service and hear the voices of the young participating and using these words "remembering Jesus this season", made me so more conscience of where we can put our minds and how we truly can "Light the World" in our own actions not just in this season but throughout the entire year!

I'm going to try to be my best self by loving like the Savior does by trying not to judge and not say anything negative. It starts with the first unkind word that was left unsaid.

  • Thank you Judy! I looked at 15 Gifts to Consider This Christmas, which is full of great thoughts. This one I had not considered, but I do find meaningful. The gift of advancing society by respecting all people, especially those who have a different viewpoint I never thought of the result being an advancement of society.

  • I love this too. “One of the most beautiful symbols of the birth of Jesus Christ into this world is light." God knows our every need, He loves us, and He watches over us. He gave us the gift of a Savior, His perfect Son. He is the Light of the World and the sure source of comfort, hope, peace, and joy.
